I’ll admit it, I’m addicted to Candy Crush. And while it’s
on cool down, meaning its building lives, I need other games like Crush to help
scratch that itch. I refuse to spend money buying extra lives or power-ups, it
takes 15 minutes to recharge 1 life, so that’s an hour and fifteen minutes to
fully recharge (5 life maximum.) What’s a gamer to do??
After a process of trial and error, here are some free-to-play
games to fill that Crush gap while you wait.
Bejeweled Blitz (Popcap Games) – The grand-daddy of these
type of “swap tile” games. Like Crush, you swap items to make groups of 3 or
more. It looks dated and the graphics are low resolution, but fun for nostalgia’s
sake.
Jelly Splash (Wooga) – The object is to frag your finger across
the jellies that connect in order to form as long a chain as possible. It’s
easier than it sounds. If the graphics were a little better and colors were
more vivid, it would be more popular than it already is.
Disney’s Frozen Free Fall (Disney) – Mix of Crush, Bejeweled
and Disney, what could go wrong? As it turns out, almost nothing. The jewels
themselves could look cleaner, but the rest is top notch.
Lost Jewels (Peak Games) – Better graphics and effects on
this one, and colors are sharp. Definately worth a look.
Jelly Mania (Naughty Cat Studios) – Cute story line about you
rescuing your jelly friends, a match 3 game. Good graphics, decent gameplay.
If you are lucky (and extremely bored), you could theoretically
bounce between Crush these other five games and never run out of lives. But I
wouldn’t recommend it.
